Opposition leader Alexei Navalny was sent to a punishment cell (SHIZO) in the colony. He announced this in his Telegram channel.
Since mid-August, he has already been to the ShIZO three times: the first time— because of the unbuttoned top button of the robe, the second— because when returning from the isolation ward, he did not fulfill the requirement to put his hands behind his back quickly enough, and the third— for misrepresenting himself. According to Navalny, even after the first time, the authorities of the colony promised him that the detention center could become his “permanent residence”.
Now Navalny did not specify the official reason for his detention in the ShIZO, he will spend 15 days there. The oppositionist also said that he was recognized as a “malicious violator.”
“Strict conditions of detention” mean that the prisoner is not being held in a barracks, but in a locked cell. And that's even less money to spend in a month, even fewer parcels and transfers, and even fewer dates a year, — said Navalny's press secretary, Kira Yarmysh.
Navalny has been in the colony since the winter of 2021: then the court appointed him a real term in the Yves Rocher case. instead of a conditional one, since he did not come to register with the Federal Penitentiary Service, including while he was being treated for the consequences of poisoning in Berlin. The oppositionist was serving a sentence in a general regime colony in Pokrov, Vladimir Region, and was supposed to be released in July-August 2023, but this summer a verdict in another case entered into force— about fraud, Navalny was sentenced to nine years in a strict regime colony and transferred to the appropriate correctional facility in Melehovo (also in the Vladimir region).
