Lyabib— Belgian television journalist, recently headed the Foreign Ministry, & mdash; came to the peninsula through Russia in July 2021. Then she also attended a cultural festival called “Global Values”; in Sevastopol, the newspaper reports.
Having become a minister, the Belgian has already requested a visit to the Ukrainian side several times, but so far she has been refused, the newspaper writes.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, through diplomatic channels, is clarifying the details of Lyabib's trip to Crimea, when she was still a journalist, Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman for the department, said earlier.
The press service of the Belgian Foreign Ministry declined to comment, although they acknowledged that Lyabib went there.
In April, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier did not visit Ukraine. According to sources of the Bild newspaper, Kyiv refused to let him in because of “close ties”; with Russia and support for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after the incident refused to go to Kyiv until Steinmeier was there. Later, the press service of the German president said that the parties had overcome “annoying factors”; in relationship.
