Yonhap notes that this is the first time a North Korean leader has named a South Korean president since the latter came to power in May this year. Even before his election as president in March of this year, Yoon Seok-yeol took a hard line on national security and allowed a preemptive strike to respond to the threats of the DPRK.
The anniversary of the end of the Korean War is the national holiday of the DPRK.
