The US and allies promised to transfer more than 20 HIMARS to Ukraine
The United States has already trained 200 Ukrainians in the use of the HIMARS MLRS, the training of even more Ukrainian military continues, the Pentagon said

The US together with allies will give Ukraine more than 20 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 12 of which have already been transferred. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milley.
“We handed over 12 HIMARS systems to Ukraine. This is part of more than 20 [installations] that the US and our allies have pledged to deliver. We have also trained 200 Ukrainians in the use of HIMARS, and more are being trained,»— he said.
Earlier on July 20, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced that the United States would send four more HIMARS to Ukraine.
Milley added that Donbass is “not yet lost”; for Kyiv, and that the US expects sustained combat of attrition.
According to the US Secretary of Defense, hostilities in Ukraine are at a critical, decisive stage. Against this background, he announced the need for urgent support for Ukraine and added that Washington and the allies will continue to look for ways to provide military assistance to Kyiv.

White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said the U.S. will announce a new military aid package for Ukraine this week that will include additional multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS, additional ammunition for MLRS and for artillery.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that additional arms supplies are necessary for Kyiv, as due to this there is an opportunity for a “tipping point”; in conflict. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, believed that it would happen in August.
At the end of last month, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that HIMARS were already being used in the Donbass. The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitsky, allowed the use of HIMARS against Russian targets in Crimea.
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned that if American MLRS were used against Russian territories, Moscow “will act to defeat” decision-making centers that “are not even located on the territory of Kyiv.”
The Pentagon has said more than once that they want to see Russia fail in Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin responded by saying that Russia “hadn't really started anything yet.” The Kremlin explained that he meant that an insignificant part of the country's potential is involved in the hostilities.
Russia criticizes the West for military aid, arguing that they do not bring peace closer. At the same time, Moscow has repeatedly pointed out that the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv will not prevent it from achieving its goals— denazification and demilitarization of the country.
