President Vladimir Putin will devote most of his speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) to the tasks of economic development, stimulating business activity and strengthening Russia's foreign trade and investment ties. Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the head of state for international affairs, told reporters about this, RIA Novosti reports.
“The President will devote a significant part of his speech to the tasks that Russia faces today, which will face tomorrow— the tasks of ensuring the further economic development of the country, stimulating domestic business activity, creating comfortable conditions for doing business and strengthening external trade and investment ties, — he said.
In addition, according to Ushakov, Putin will touch upon the topics of “unfair interstate competition, trade financial wars, sanctions and restrictions.” “The President will share his assessment of the trend towards the formation of a multipolar economic model and will assess the opportunities and prospects that this process opens up for participants in the entire global market,” — added the presidential aide.
Putin will speak at the SPIEF plenary session on June 17th. The meeting will be moderated by RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan. At the same time, there will be no separate traditional meeting of the president with the management of foreign companies and international investors at the forum.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that the president's speech at the forum would be “extremely important.” He noted that Putin would talk about the impact of sanctions on the rise in the price of energy resources, as well as touch on other economic areas.

As of June 1, more than 2,700 business representatives have confirmed their participation in the forum, of which more than 1,000— company heads.
