British scientists have warned of the most dangerous strain of COVID-19
Plot of a novel coronavirus pandemic that spread from China
Scientists from the UK said that a strain of coronavirus appeared in Botswana, which could potentially be more dangerous than all other options, writes the Daily Mail.
According to the publication, the strain with the scientific name B .1.1.529 contains 32 mutations, many of which indicate its high transmissibility and resistance to vaccines.
To date, ten cases of this strain have been identified in three countries & mdash; Botswana, South Africa and Hong Kong.
According to geneticist François Ballou of University College London, the new strain is likely to evade antibodies better than delta.
Earlier, the deputy director of the Gamaleya Center, Denis Logunov, said that the lethality of & nbsp; coronavirus exceeded the lethality of & nbsp; swine flu by 50 times.
He said that lethality in acute respiratory viral diseases was “ critically lower '' than with covid. Logunov noted that with swine flu the lethality is 0.04%, and with COVID-19 & ndash; 2%. & Nbsp;
